In doing another post---ran across clip I hadn't seen.
Wolf was saying "he'd been with Raiders 34 or whatever years"
essentially establishing his bone fides as Raider expert,
then he calls Art Shell the 2nd best Raider ever. Okay, fine. I buy that
then he said Marcus Allen is #1. Hmmmm, 1st?
Even if it's just his era, as much as I defend Allen---I have to channel
Mars Blackmon "the best? the best? . . . the best?"
Coming from a guy who is a big part of sabotaging Randy Gradishar's
HOF chances it seems odd that he'd put Allen #1.
It just raises questions in my mind.

Re: Ron Wolf
<sighs> Yeah, agreed. Kind of like when I saw Gil Brandt’s bizarre “best ever at their position” rankings.
No question Marcus Allen was a fine player at his best and a worthy HoFer. But there are several Raiders I’d rank above him.

I used to talk to Gil at Super Bowls. If it wasn't Cowboys he'd have a hard time with things. And this was 20-25 years agobachslunch wrote:<sighs> Yeah, agreed. Kind of like when I saw Gil Brandt’s bizarre “best ever at their position” rankings.
He'd not know which DEs where left or right...he would try to pump up Ed Jones as a 'left defensive end' and say all tehse other guys are blind side
rushers (i.e. reak vs run)
then you'd say, no . . .Jim Marshall was the RDE or John Zook wad the RDE----
