What is the singular most impressive stat/thing that you've seen in each sport?

Football = Don Hutson lapping the field in 1942 receiving

Baseball = Toby Harrah & Bump Wills hitting inside-the-park HRs on consecutive pitches

Basketball = Isiah Thomas 16 points in last 94 seconds to force OT in playoff game against Knicks

Hockey = Gordie Howe putting up 41 points in the NHL at age 51

You sure it's Isiah Thomas you're thinking of? I ask because Reggie Miller did something very similar in 1994 or '95.

A similar game took place in the American Association in 1940. The Jersey City Giants outgained the Paterson Panthers 293 to 77 and made 17 first downs to Paterson's 3, but lost 16-7 because Johnny Spirida of the Panthers returned a fumble 94 yards for one touchdown and returned a fumble 80 yards for the other one.

By the way, they used to have film of this game in the Hall of Fame library. Tod Maher and I watched it about 30 years ago. But I understand they don't have any game films there any more.

I always go back to Bake Turner's stat line for 1962 Colts: 1 rec, 111 yds, 1 TD. Hard to beat an 111 YPG!

Turner caught a 74-yd TD in one game (I think the finale), but in an earlier game the rookie was credited with 37 receiving yds after the original receiver lateraled the ball to him. On that particular play, Turner was taken down just short of the goal line. Had he scored, his stat line would be:

1 rec., 113 yds, 2 TD.

Seeing Toby Harrah's name reminds me of one of those factoids you absorb as a kid and never forget: He once played an entire doubleheader at shortstop without ever touching the ball -- no chances, no assists, no putouts.

In a 1967 win vs Buffalo at Shea he completes just 13/37...but for 338 yards
52-13 drubbing of Houston at Shea in 1966, Namath completes 12/31 for 283 yards, 5 of those go for touchdowns
A 26-17 win at Shea over Houston in 1969, Namath throws for 306 yards on just 12 completions
A 24-20 win over Baltimore in 1972, Namath completes just 5/16 passes...but for 228 yards and 2 touchdowns

I would have posted this same thing which I suppose I am doing right now.

20 completions for 724 yards. That seems impossible outside of playing a football video game. Also, the Jets won both games so we can rule out some insane prevent-defense-to-kill-time scenario as having occurred.
