We all recall this line from Lou Saban, but was he mentioning his players or the game officials? Others from Saban: "My daughter could do better, my daughter could do better." "You can get it done, you can get it done. And what's more, you've gotta get it done." " It's gonna cost Goedekke and it's gonna cost Goedekke plenty!"

The Whitey he's referring to is Whitey Dovell.

Dovell was an assistant coach on Ted Marchibroda's Colts staff during the 70's. In 1975 a 23 yr old young coach used to drive Dovell to practice every day.

Just giving some info on who Whitey was. Some may not know his history. For example, I didn't know he had a big hand along with Carl Peterson and Marty Schottenheimer in changing the Chiefs fortunes in the late 80's and early 90's.

Being a High School and Division III football official myself, I'm going to say its his players. That was way too kind for it to be directed to an official. But here is what the man himself said about it.
