that was always bothersome---never knew why that happened. Only reason I can think of is Giants listed him as a tight end as a rookie, like
they listed Brad Van Pelt as a punter as a rookie so he got to keep #10 and league looked the other way.

Remember seeing him those years with #80 and knowing he was not allowed and knowing Bubba Baker was forced to change in 1978 and
Tabor got to keep it..
