Jay Z wrote:For defensive players, Karlos Dansby or Reggie Williams.

John Anderson was a very talented pass defender for a linebacker. Assuming Dansby was as well.
Dansby was a 2nd Team All Pro in 2013.

Reggie Williams was the first guy to come to mind for me.

How about Joey Galloway, Wayne Chrebet, and Brian Simmons?

Stan Brock (previously mentioned,) Brad Meester, Dominic Raiola and Wayne Gandy are the only players to start 200+ games and never receive postseason honors.

Robert Newhouse … 12 years a Cowboy. No pro bowls or All-Pro mentions.

Joe Flacco had exactly zero honors in his 11 years on the Ravens. He may very well be the worst "franchise QB" ever; even Dan Pastorini had one Pro Bowl... wow. Who else did this at QB?

Jim Plunkett has a very similar career. Both players did win a Super Bowl MVP though.

Joe Ferguson was the Bills' starting QB from 1973-84 without a Pro Bowl appearance or All-Conference notice, the AFC had many star QBs during the period. Ferguson was a QB tapped to be great from his high school days, but didn't become a great QB.

On the other hand, when Fergy was hot, he was very good. Examples are the Monday Night game against the Raiders in 1974 and a duel (which he won) with Dan Marino in 1983.

Yeah, he and Plunkett were certainly not as whelmingly mediocre as Flacco. The funny thing is, I can't tell any difference in overall performance between these two, who received absolutely no recognition, and other 70s guys guys like Stabler, Namath, Griese, and Bradshaw who made the HOF. It's very easy to conclude that anything involving voting was nothing but a popularity contest in this era.
