incredible. Especially the ending when the Giants got in position for the winning field goal, muffed the snap (don't remember if it was Trey Junkin...reliable nearly 42 year old long snapper) or the holders fault. They picked the ball up and tossed a desperate lob downfield where a lineman was tackled going for the football. Flags flying everywhere...I remember the radio announcer screaming pass interference. The flag was really for illegal man downfield. Just total chaos

Montana's first year in KC and just how unusual it was to see him in that uniform. Also Marcus Allen reviving his career with KC as well

They did add the two-point conversion in 1994, which I've always favored and never understood why the NFL never adopted it when the leagues merged in 1970. Did the two-point play becoming part of the NFL ever come up during the NFL-AFL merger discussions, or did the NFL ever vote on adopting it before 1994?

1969 is my favorite season overall, though I didn't start watching the NFL until November 1970 (at age 9). While the era of afros & astroturf would soon be upon us, the '69 season offered up some memorable storylines (several of these have already been mentioned)

At the end of October, both the Rams and Cowboys were undefeated and perceived as strong candidates to meet in the NFL Championship game. Instead, they met in the final Playoff Bowl, with Dallas mailing it in.

At midseason, the Browns had arguably the most schizophrenic two weeks by knocking the Cowboys from the undefeated ranks in a 42-10 rout--followed seven days later by being on the receiving end of a 51-3 rout by the Vikings.

A few seasons already mentioned in this thread that maybe I should have placed in my quick top-10. ’69 definitely one of them. The only time Landry ever beat Vince (twice) as a HC. Also, Lombardi coaches against Chuck Noll this very season as well (just like Noll coaches against Belichick twice in ’91).

KC has plenty of reason to feel optimistic this upcoming season as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of their Super Bowl IV triumph!

In two games vs. Minnesota the Browns were outscored 78-10. In two games vs. Dallas the Browns outscored the Cowboys 80-24. Who would have believed on Dec. 28, 1969 that the Century Division Browns would not see another road playoff win for at least half a century?

Another tidbit from the '69 season ... two U.S. pre-season games were played in Montreal that year. Both games were played at Jarry Park, home of the Montreal Expos. It marked just the second & third occasion that a pro football game featuring two U.S. teams was played outside the continental United States (the Bears met the N.Y. Giants in Toronto on 8/15/60). While ticket sales for the upcoming Aug. 23 Raiders vs. Packers game at Winnipeg have reportedly been slow, they should have no problem topping the sad attendance numbers given for the two '69 games played in Montreal:

There have been other preseason NFL games in Canada: the last one IIRC was a San Francisco-Seattle matchup at BC Place in Vancouver in 1998.
