Re: NYG under Ray Perkins, 1979-thru-'82

PS - who was, officially, the G-men's DC in Bill Parcells' first two seasons as HC? Thanks in-advance. They didn't list one officially in 1983 or 1984 before Belichick was named there in 1985. Thanks! Don't have a feel as to where it would be though...perhaps he's replacing Hugh Campbell in Houston...

Re: 1992 Philadelphia Eagles discussion

For what its worth, in addition to having the #7 offense & #6 D, they returned to the playoffs - winning their last four - and did something they couldn't do when Buddy was there and that's win a January game! Of course Buddy a better overall HC than Kotite but post-season-wise, maybe Richie FW...

1992 Philadelphia Eagles discussion

This current signing of Saquon Barkley is sort-of reminding me of that '92 Birds' campaign! Herschel, of course, was the key acquisition at RB that year. Logic indicated at the time that, despite already having Keith Byars, that a main -purpose marquee RB was needed in Philly to complement Cunningha...

Re: Teams that didn't play on MNF the entire season but "should" have

Here’s quite a double-factoid I just became aware of…in ’76 both the back-to-back defending-Champs and “America’s Team” who played against them beneath the Goodyear Blimp the previous January, each played in just ONE Monday Night game! That’s it!

Re: Toughest/Easiest schedules in football history

I wouldn't say it was the toughest schedule in NFL history but I think in "Greatest Teams Ever" discussions, the 1985's Bears schedule is pretty remarkable in that they played and beat: New England (11-5) x 2 NY Jets (11-5) Dallas (10-6) NY Giants (10-6) Washington (10-6) San Francisco (1...

Re: Another 'NFL Throwback' from YouTube - EVERY SUPER BOWL RANKED

I'm not knocking them down as to what players/coaches did before or after. I just focus on the season a team made the SB and won or lost it. If a team catches lightening in a bottle, and rides that to a dominant season for just that year, it's weird to me to penalize. I guess if I am judging Super ...

Colts 29, Jets 22 at Shea, Wk#5 in 1970. Unitas vs Namath, Eddie Bell the Jets' rookie WR.

Another 'NFL Throwback' from YouTube - EVERY SUPER BOWL RANKED

This only goes up through the 2020 season, Super Bowl LV - Brady's Bucs throttling the defending-Champs (Raiders-over-Redskins style), 31-9. First Super Bowl to be played at one of the opponent's actual home city and stadium (the following year, already, being the second such time; with home team wi...

Re: Toughest/Easiest schedules in football history

In 1970, the AFL and NFL merged and became the NFL with the AFC and NFC having Inter-Conference games and the scheduling was much different than usual. Unlike the previous 3 years, the teams in the same division would play different teams outside of their division. For instance, in the NFC Eastern ...
