Re: Levy/Mackovic Chiefs discussion
That's a great point -- the AFC West at that time was really, really tough. Delaney's loss was indeed a tragedy and set the team back quite a bit. After that, I don't remember them having a running back of note until Okoye. The thought of whom the 49ers may have drafted if they had the top pick is ...

Re: Albert Pujols, 1-day contracts & most overrated player e
Receivers who reach triple digits in receptions for a season are hailed as a "future Hall of Famer" because the numbers dwarf what guys like Berry, Warfield, etc did. Never mind that the game has drastically changed from that earlier time.

Re: Frank Gore
More interesting is guys retiring for a team they didn't play for, but were signed to a contract bet never saw the field---Leroy Kelly as a Raider, Bobby Bell (played preseason as a Raider), Herb Adderley as a Rams, thought those don't count and shouldn't they have more legitimacy than the "on...

Sam Rutigliano went with Saban from Maryland to the Broncos, then was part of Fairbanks' staff in 73.

Re: Levy/Mackovic Chiefs discussion
When Bill Walsh (who also needed a QB in the 79 draft) went to Clemson to work Fuller out, they needed a receiver--so Fuller's teammate Dwight Clark was picked or volunteered. Walsh obviously wasn't all that impressed with Fuller, since he ended up settling for some QB from Notre Dame in the third r...

Re: Frank Gore
The whole "Sign a one-day contract and retire as a (fill in the blank)" has always been a lame routine. Is the player (or team) that fragile that they can't just move on with their life?

Stan Parrrish, who was Tampa Bay's QB coach in 2002-03, but primarily served as a college HC, died on Sunday at the age of 75. At the college level, he also had the distinction of being Tom Brady's QB coach at MIchigan: https://www.mlive.com/wolverines/2022/04/stan-parrish-tom-bradys-qbs-coach-at-mi...

Re: Bills, Kay Stephenson
Wilson had supposedly talked to Levy and Tom Catlin about the HC, but ultimately wanted more than Ground Chuck, which he thought Stephenson could provide. Knox had one more year on his deal with the Bills, but after they couldn't get together on an extension, the idea of being a lame duck caused Kno...

Re: The rich getting richer
Maybe all is forgiven with Bon Jovi. After all, the Pegulas presented themselves as upstanding people who bought the Bills and Sabres to keep them in Buffalo. Below is an excerpt from an article about the 2014 sale of the Bills: "But the Pegulas said they are committed to keeping the team...
