Oh and one thing that bugs me about 1945 - despite what the NFL and Pro Football Reference say - O'Neal/O'Neale Adams did N OT play for the Giants in 1945. Al those games credited to him were played by Verlin Adams. O'Neal/O'Neale was busy playing for the Second Air Force team in 1945.

In the team photo that year there is a players sitting between #76 (Rudy Smeja) and #66 who is wearing a number that ends in 7 (blocked by #37's head). It almost looks like Johnny Schiechl. He also wore #66 that year - but that was also Bulldog Turner's number (but he only played in two games).

Postponed games in the early days were not that uncommon. Don't have the detail in front of me, but I think a Lions-Dodgers game in 1934 was postponed a day due to weather.
