Re: Why don't the '84 49ers get recgonition/pub of other cha
I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they aren't really considered to be the best '49ers team of the decade. I believe most consider the '89 team to be the best. The '81 team was the first so that will always be special and the '88 team is grouped in with the '89 team in many ways. The '...

Re: 96 classic NFL games will be on YouTube
Yes this isn't really anything new. There have been a ton of old games on youtube for quite a while now. A user by the name of stayfast has a lot of them as well as several other people as well. Just go on youtube and search for nfl full games.

Re: Ray Handley
Parcells has always struck me as the kind of captain who's the first guy on the lifeboat once the ship hits the iceberg. He knew how his team was happy to rest on their laurels after their first Super Bowl win. He knew the team had zero offense, and would struggle without Belichick. That was a team...

Re: 1970s- did the playoff format lead to predictable outcom
Though it probably isn't good for the league as a whole I miss the days when there were truly dominant teams and franchises. That's probably a big reason now why I'm not as big of a pro football fan as I used to be and prefer the college game because we still get those dominant teams and dynasties a...

Re: Ray Handley
I seem to recall hearing vague references to rumors of some unspecified unsavory incident that happened when he was their coach. Anyone else recall that? Just on the few articles I could find about him (he seemed to completely disappear from even the media after the '92 season) it didn't say anythi...

Ray Handley
I've been watching some early '90's games recently and Ray Handley came to mind. Was wondering do you all think he was really as bad as coach as some people seem to think he was? The Giants as an organization was just in a very rough place after their 1990 Super Bowl season. They were an aging team ...

Re: '15 Broncos VS '13 Seahawks
Definitely would have to go with the Seahawks. A much more balanced team than the '15 Broncos were and I think Russell Wilson would have handled the Broncos D better than a ready to retire Manning would have handled the Seahawks. After what that Seahawks D did to Manning in '13 just think what they ...

Re: Can someone explain the 1987 Vikings?
The '87 Vikings went 0-3 in their scab games. If there was no strike they very likely could have gone 11-5 or 12-4 and the game against the 49ers wouldn't be considered nearly as much of an upset as it is now. You also need to take into account that all but one of the games the '87 Vikings starters ...

Re: Did Red Grange "save" the NFL?
Yes. Unless no Red Grange meant that the Colts/Giants '58 championship game wouldn't have happened on television I'd say he didn't have anything to do with saving the NFL.

Re: 1vs2-seed CCs & 1vs1-seed SBs we're okay to have missed
I'm guessing that much of the talk of the '87 49ers being virtually penciled in as appearing in the Super Bowl stemmed from the final three games of the season where they beat Chicago, Atlanta, and the Rams by a score of 41-0, 35-7, and, 48-0. Say if the Vikings didn't beat the the Saints and New Or...
