Re: E.J. Holub
I would bet there are more players than E.J. who started Super Bowls at more than one position. Ronnie Lott comes to mind (CB 81&84; S 88&89). However, I don't know if there was anyone who started on offense on one occasion and defense on another... anyone? Here is some hasty research: Mike...

Re: What's the biggest football moment you witnessed in person?
I saw Aaron Glenn return a missed FG for a 104-yard TD. I think its still the record (?).

Re: 1983 Chargers
I’ve been watching a lot of games from the 1983 Chargers. They are a fascinating team to me... This is a very good write-up. It seems to me that you've done a few of these before, right? If so, I think it would be worthwhile to collect them and have them printed in the Coffin Corner. I think they'd...

Re: Joe Thomas with 49ers
A few thoughts on Thomas with the 49ers: *After the way Thomas alienated everyone in Baltimore, most people thought his days as an NFL GM were over. It was thought that Eddie DeBartolo was the only owner to have interest in Thomas, because Eddie was new to the league and somewhat ignorant. *Thomas h...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
Had Baltimore won their division in 1971 like they should have, a very interesting match-up in KC for the playoffs. Due to the weather and Municipal Stadium, Unitas I believe, would have had a good throwing day with the Colts winning a close, defensive battle. It would be an interesting matchup.......

Re: Seniors
That might be true to an extent. But also - and we see this all the time - a guy is fantastic on one team and isn't on another. Jackson's career - he was solid overall with several teams. And that was over quite a long period of time. Clearly though, like if he made a game-winning play in the NFC C...

Re: Seniors
I could see why having your prime years split between three different teams hurts; especially before free agency. You mention retired numbers, well in Jackson's case in particular, he played some prime years for the Rams, and wore number 29. A number that has since been retired for Eric Dickerson. ...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
The 73 Raiders lost 4 games and had a tie. They barely held off Denver in their own division, plus benefitted from a playoff rotation where they avoided Cincinnati. That was by far OAK’s weakest team of the Madden era At the end of the season with the division on the line, the Raiders beat KC by 30...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
If I'm a head coach, I'd much rather face Bob Avellini and Bob Lee as opposed to Ken Anderson and Ken Stabler.

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
Looking at the 1977 postseason.... this is probably selling the 77 Broncos short, because Denver usually played Pittsburgh tough (although they got stomped in the 78 playoffs and 79 regular season), but what if the Steelers defeat Denver? Do they win against Oakland in the AFC Championship game? Do ...
