Re: Don't trust anybody

My brother pointed out that it seems like even the best teams have each had one inexplicable "What the hell's goin' on here" (Thanks Vince  ) loss this season.

Re: HoVG Dan Reeves Passes

Given the recent trend, I imagine that Reeves will now be elected in 2023. I'm not sure what his eligibility status is for this year. If he is eligible for 2022, then it makes it even more likely.

Re: Antonio Brown

I do find it amusing that TO is upset about someone comparing Brown to him:

TO is, I believe, the only living Hall of Famer not to take part in his own induction ceremony.

Re: Weirdest multi-game stretches ever?

In 1984, Browns QB Paul McDonald threw a pick-six in three straight games. In their next game, he threw one late in the game that Deron Cherry picked off at the Chiefs' 10 and returned 67 yards. One week later, in the final minute, McDonald was picked off at the Patriots 5 by Raymond Clayborn, who n...

Re: Dumbest ideas the NFL had

This is more on coaches, but turning preseason games into 60 minutes of boredom has turned what might be something worthwhile to watch into watch the first quarter and move onto other things. Making season-ticket holders pay full price for this trash is on the owners, with Goodell having the gall to...

Re: COVID -NFL

This situation is somewhat like the steroid situation in baseball. I have serious doubts that MLB was pushing hard to get steroids banned. However, the union fought like hell for years to make sure that testing was banned--or at least only during the Spring Training physical phase--when players coul...

Re: When Did the NFL Change?

The two strikes in the 80's knocked the NFL off course after years of success and great ratings. The fact that the '82 season was effectively ruined after it practically got chopped in half didn't help and Scab Ball in '87 showed that owners had no respect for fans. That was quickly followed by fran...

Re: AFL Question / Opinions Sought

A game that gets ignored, but had to be entertaining was the Thanksgiving 1962 game between the Titans and Broncos, won by the Titans, 46-45:

Re: NFL New Year’s Day memories

Not surprisingly, Al Davis got fined by the NFL after he compared Rozelle's defense of the Lytle call to lies about Vietnam.

While it wasn't connected to the NFL at the time, the AFL had their first championship game on New Years Day 1961, with the Oilers beating the Chargers, 24-16.

David Baker Retires

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32411333/david-baker-retires-president-pro-football-hall-fame He's insisting that it's because he wants to be closer to family, but his inability to move forward with the massive HOF expansion plans might play a role. After all, the yearly ego trips that ruin the ...
