To me, the answer to this question is Fran Tarkenton. I remember reading Tarkenton said that in his prime he could throw the ball about 59 yards in the air. Former NFL assistant Anthero "Nick" Nicolau died on Saturday at the age of 81. He served as an assistant for 21 years:
