Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
If Paul Brown went back to Ohio State after WWII, the landscape of the NFL today would have been a lot different. Brown was ahead of his time, bringing several innovations to Pro Football. He influenced several future NFL head coaches (like Walsh, Noll, and Shula). And, the AAFC may have lasted sev...

Re: 2010s All-Decade
Justin Tucker — K — Stephen Gostkowski You'll get no complaint on me from Tucker, he is clearly the kicker of the decade. As for Gostkowski, while he does score points at a record rate, he gets a huge advantage for playing for one of the most dominant offensive machines in pro football history that...

Re: starting QB as placekick holder
Does any team still use their starting QB as the holder? I can't recall seeing this in the current NFL. If not, then who was the last starting QB to also be the holder? Was Tony Romo the regular holder when he was with the Cowboys? I'm not sure if he held onto the job after that playoff loss to Sea...

Re: Who is on your NFL broadcast “dream team?”
Make them stop team? How about Howard Cosell, Dennis Miller, and Tony Kornheiser? I for one liked Cosell, and I thought Dennis Miller was better than expected, and was a much better choice than many who were publicly lobbying for the spot such as Regis Philbin, and if they had to hire somebody from...

Re: How to identify worst receivers?
If I were the Commissioner of the NFL, the first thing I would do is ban the Stickum gloves, because they artificially inflate passing statistics not unlike the steroid epidemic in baseball was inflating home run totals. I'm not impressed one iota by these one-handed catches made in every single ga...

As do I. His book on the 1970's was a masterpiece. I am hoping against hope that he will do a similar book on the 1980's.Jay Z wrote:I look forward to Joe's book.

Re: How to identify worst receivers?
If drops were measured throughout history, that might be the most telling stat. There's some flaw to that stat, as in if the receiver would've had to make an acrobatic or outstanding play to make the catch. It would be more helpful to have a "catchable" pass statistic... YPC could be help...

Re: The Games of 11/24/63
It did used to be the idea to carry on, at least until 9/11, or maybe before until Grief Counselors became a job that every school district had to hire in their employ due to all the school shootings. I remember early in my senior year in high school (fall of 1981), a popular teacher at my high scho...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
What if Jim Kelly and Steve Young had gone straight to the NFL and Dan Marino had started in the USFL? Or, same vane but more extreme.... What if Joe Namath signs with the Cardinals in 1965?? (Namath was drafted #12 by St Louis) How different are the Cardinals? What happens to the AFL without it's ...
