Re: 1991-92 World League
I didn't follow this at all when it was around. I guess ESPN aired the games. A pretty strange divisional alignment set-up those two seasons were. A three-team division, yet alone two of them, is always way too small. Being that teams didn't exactly play everyone in their divisions twice anyway, the...

Re: Weakest above-500 team to NOT make the playoffs?
After going 13-33-1 the previous three years and before going 10-22 the next two years, the Packers somehow went 10-6 in 1989. They were fortunate on a few fronts: - They had a last-place schedule, which meant the woeful Cowboys twice and not having to deal with the rough AFC Central; - They got a ...

Re: "Equal"s
I wouldn't say necessarily "equal" but I would say Brown, Lombardi, and Noll are above everybody else - a higher tier of coach than anyone else. They are each their own, so I wouldn't call them equals but they are equals in terms of who they are historically, IMO. And I guess maybe that's...

"Equal"s
Teams, players, coaches, games, seasons, events...when it comes to ranking two of them against each other, which is a case of you seeing them as "even-Steven" (this can also be a case of being more than just two being equal, if you like)? For instance, I opine that Landry/Shula, Brees/Rodg...

Re: SB Champions That Should Have Repeated
The ’96 Cowboys should at least be mentioned. Going into the playoffs, despite finishing at only 10-6 and dealing with injuries that season, The Holmgren/Favre/Reggie Packers were still in search of their first win over Big D. Dallas did beat Green Bay on MNF that season albeit Favre’s best weapons ...

Re: SB Champions That Should Have Repeated
I would have mentioned the 2008 New York Giants. But great list and descriptions just the same! I've said it a few times here before and even recently that, despite me being a Steeler-fan, the defending-Champs who beat the undefeated Pats last year were the best team in the league the 2008 regular s...

The first season ‘preview’
Without asking anyone to actually roll up their sleeves and research/dive into the matter, would anyone in here know off-hand what was the first NFL season in which a publication, or maybe even a radio show, was produced that reviewed the upcoming season; rosters, coaches, predictions and what not? ...

1971 NFL season discussion
Other than this, here, old PRs thread from 2017 - https://profootballresearchers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=20933&hilit=power+rankings#p20933 - I'm pretty sure that there hasn't already been a discussion thread on this season. Plenty to say about this intriguing second season of the AFL/NFL merge...

Weakest above-500 team to NOT make the playoffs?
There's the question of who the weakest ever playoff teams were. But considering that a handful of them at least won at least one of their playoff games, there then is the question as to who the weakest playoff teams who went one-and-done; it's a thread I started not too long ago. And then there's t...

Re: Good interconf games missed due to '5th place schedule'
Some considerations: 1979: Tampa Bay vs. Miami 1981: Jets vs. Dallas 1986: Chiefs vs. Giants 1991: Denver vs. Atlanta 1992: San Diego vs. Dallas The '79 Bucs were 3-1 vs their four games against the other 5th-place teams from the year before. They played the Giants (6-10) twice, at Colts (5-11), an...
