Re: Obscure trivia

Name the game.... - The head coach of the losing team in this game once was the head coach of the winning team earlier in his career. - A hall of Fame running back ran for 3 TDs. - A future teammate of James Lofton threw a TD pass. - The winning QB was in his final NFL season. MNF, Wk#3, 1985: Rams...

Re: PIT QB signings

R.W. and Justin Fields. How do Steelers fans feel about that? (personally, I think the Steelers made a killing with those signings. On that basis, alone, I expect the 'Stillers' to be much improved in 2024) All FOR it! I know Pickett was injured a bit in his brief time in the 'Burgh; and not under ...

Re: Obscure trivia

Name the game... When both these teams met, they went into the game with a combined 15 losses. This would be the second victory of the season for the winning team, and their HC for this win was not their HC at season's beginning; and this very season would be the only season that he would ever at a...

Re: 1973 Raiders

So at the start of the 1973 AFC Championship Game, Curt Gowdy said that many called the OAK/MIA AFC-CG the real Super Bowl and that they were the 2 best teams in pro football. Which is high praise considering that specific Raider team hardly jumped off the page. Oakland barely won a weak AFCW over ...

Ranking all NFLCG winners, '33 thru '65

A nice, "nothing to do this morning" off-season exercise. I strictly went by NFL League Championship Game winners and nothing else. I didn't include the '32 playoff game nor any AAFC/AFL champs. Here are mine...(forgive errors)... 33) '34 Giants, 8-5-0 32) '35 Lions, 7-3-2 31) '44 Packers,...

Re: NYG under Ray Perkins, 1979-thru-'82

PS - who was, officially, the G-men's DC in Bill Parcells' first two seasons as HC? Thanks in-advance. They didn't list one officially in 1983 or 1984 before Belichick was named there in 1985. Thanks! Don't have a feel as to where it would be though...perhaps he's replacing Hugh Campbell in Houston...

Re: 1992 Philadelphia Eagles discussion

For what its worth, in addition to having the #7 offense & #6 D, they returned to the playoffs - winning their last four - and did something they couldn't do when Buddy was there and that's win a January game! Of course Buddy a better overall HC than Kotite but post-season-wise, maybe Richie FW...

1992 Philadelphia Eagles discussion

This current signing of Saquon Barkley is sort-of reminding me of that '92 Birds' campaign! Herschel, of course, was the key acquisition at RB that year. Logic indicated at the time that, despite already having Keith Byars, that a main -purpose marquee RB was needed in Philly to complement Cunningha...

Re: Teams that didn't play on MNF the entire season but "should" have

Here’s quite a double-factoid I just became aware of…in ’76 both the back-to-back defending-Champs and “America’s Team” who played against them beneath the Goodyear Blimp the previous January, each played in just ONE Monday Night game! That’s it!
