Re: SB Champions That Should Have Repeated
Of course the Colts had their shot at repeating in 1971 but couldn't match the big plays of the Dolphins in that championship game. With Hinton and Bulaich hurt in 1972, the wheels came off their offense and Unitas was coming to the end. Letting go of Roy Jefferson might have been a mistake.

Re: SB Champions That Should Have Repeated
Good points ... imagine though if KC had a backup like Lamonica with Buffalo or Parilli with the Jets? A passer to challenge defenses and help Dawson out. Livingston didn't exactly worry defenses when he came in. Yeah, Stallworth had that long TD on a screen and the Cowboys still couldn't keep Swann...

Re: SB Champions That Should Have Repeated
Good perspective on that 2008 Giants squad. They had their chance but the Eagles played inspired before flopping against the Cardinals in that championship game. After beating NY, I can understand Leonard being so disappointed there wasnt an eventual Philly- Pittsburgh SB. I thought about including ...

Re: 1984 49ers = Overrated
Haha ... In what world was the Johnson-Aikman led Cowboys a "finesse" team? Yes, the defense was small and flew to the ball but that offensive line would pound a front-seven defense into the turf ... then, Moose and Emmitt would clean-up, into the end zone. Smith was powering through defen...

SB Champions That Should Have Repeated
Good thread with SB teams that could, or should have three-peated. What about SB Champions that could, or should have went back-to-back as champions? A look back ... 1969 Chiefs -- In hindsight, I felt this team should have repeated as champions for 1970, following GB before the Dolphins. They destr...

Re: Looking At the Teams That Attempted to Threepeat
Even with Emmitt Smith hurt, I never believed the Cowboy's offense and defense would struggle so much to open the game against SF. Switzer simply didn't prepare them like Johnson would have, and giving up 38 points made me livid at that time. The 49ers and Young deserve credit for finally getting by...

Re: Looking At the Teams That Attempted to Threepeat
Paul Warfield believed had the Dolphins gotten by the Raiders, they would have beaten the Steelers in the Orange Bowl before beating Minn. I am doubtful, without Jake Scott. Injuries to running backs hurt these teams chances, especially SF, Pitts and Dallas, though E Smith played well before leaving...

Re: 1971 NFL season discussion
The Steelers could have had a winning season had they beaten the Bears and Dolphins, blowing good leads. One of the best losing seasons for any young team, with the experience they gained. Chuck Noll was disappointed they didn't do better. The Cowboys 1990 season reminded me of this one ...
